Braille E-book is a conceptual design of a digital and portable e-book reader, developed by Korean industrial designers. This is quite certain that by seeing the design, everyone will admire that this gadget is really necessary for reading e-books. However, e-books of Braille compatible version are not much available in the market because of the higher price. EAP is the mother technology that can develop special patterns on the plastic surface by raising those elements with an electronic signal. This unique technology used by Braille E-Book can translate the content into Braille.

At the Euroluce International Lighting Fair in Milan, Philips is showing world’s first OLED lighting concepts that involves human interaction. The lights are suited for both professional as well as consumer use and feature ultra flat shape and soft light effects.

Philips has created different OLED lighting concepts like standing, wall-mounted, desk-top or ceiling luminaires that use different types of interaction. The ceiling lighting, for instance, can be brightened or dimmed with a wave of the hand. Another concept shows an OLED wall that reacts to passers-by and creates a mirrored reflection of the shadows amid the lit wall making it like a glowing mirror.

The born of the Skyscrapers gives us the ability to escape from the stressful situations on the ground like the heavy traffic, polluted air and the like. Designer Sohta Mori has created the Escaper as an instrument to catch the escaping from the ground. This skyscraper has a twisted body avoiding direct visual contact to the ground. In addition, it has an artificial ground and every floor has its own large floating garden that definitely produces air to every floor and of course prevents the absorption of direct heat from sunlight. In addition, its twisted body adds up the beautiful look of the building accentuated with the gardens that looks very refreshing.

Here's a conceptual iPod dock that could possible make the manufacturers a ton of money if it was ever released - the E-Pod Dock that crams in a whole bunch of functionality. For instance, it plays nice with your iPhone, iPod touch and iPod classic by functioning as a speaker, movie projector and alarm clock. Regardless of its diminutive size, it still offers powerful hi-fidelity audio. We think one major problem with this concept is it cannot be too portable and ought to be within range of a power outlet at all times if you're going to take advantage of the built-in projector.

This video, which shows what Microsoft thinks await us in the next decade, was presented a few days ago by Microsoft’s Business Division president Stephen Elop at the Wharton Business Conference.

Now a lot of you will probably think that the presentation is nothing but eye candy, but in this case, I disagree. I really do think that we will be seeing this kind of technology in the next 10 to 20 years. It may not exclusively be developed by our friends at Redmond, but I’m sure they’ll introduce several products that could fit in what you just saw. I mean, they’ve already started! Just look at what they’ve done with Surface. Everything you’ve seen in the video was based around the same concept: A miniaturized version of a multi-touch table

If ever there was a laptop bag that could get you shot to hell by an assault gun-carrying Lt. Ripley, it would be this concept bag from Cocoon Innovations.

Cocoon says that the bags have a some meat to them beyond just their organic good looks. Inside the bags, there's a proprietary material called the Grid that serves as an "elastic organization system." The system either allows users to organize the interior into several configurations, or it serves as an incubator for the most deadly fictional creature known to man.

See that? That's how far JVC's eco-friendly designers will prostrate themselves in hopes of recycling your paper money into their bank accounts. On display in Tokyo at the Designer's Week exhibition, the Sound Garden "Kirikabu" speaker combines your choice of potted plants with multi-directional speakers consisting of a woofer, and left- and right-channel stereo speakers powered by an internal amplifier. Just add water and let the electrifying fun begin. The pods can also be joined into hives where guinea pigs and other varmints of doom can breed and ultimately wash away the rain of our despair.

Most of us still use ho-hum mobile phones. I don’t say that to be condescending but to create a distinction between most of the mobile concepts we feature - touchscreen pizazz, cameras with crazy megapixel counts, and form factors as thin as crisps. For the rest of us, we still use phones that came free with our carrier plans. Smaller screens, standard numeric keypads, and no fancy software for email and web browsing. Screen2 may just be for you.

Screen2 is a mobile phone dock essentially doubling to tripling your screen real estate. It extends your phone’s standard feature set to include email, web browsing, photo viewing, video watching, document browsing, speaker phoning, and AIM/MSN chatting all via touchscreen. Technically it COULD be used with smartphones like the iPhone or Blackberry but I see a much bigger boon with older mobile phones.

When disaster strikes, many of our folks became homeless in anyway, and those homeless victims need some comfortable shelter to live in. This situation made the designer Rafael Smith came into the idea of the Uber Emergency Shelter. Very easy to install, and has a solar panels that can accommodate a small refrigerator and illuminates the whole shelter. The materials for uber emergency shelter can be easily shipped on a compact form, and assembles easily too. The only downside it has is that, it can be a bit shaky to materialize especially in an uneven area. In addition, the price of this shelter can be a big question. Will it be affordable enough as an evacuation area?

This Electrolux concept, the Cook Top Vesta from Matthias Pinkert targets folks who are always on the move and about, where no home is permanent. Also ideal for people who live in increasingly cramped spaces where studio apartment designs reign, merging the kitchen, living, closet and sleeping areas into one. This fold-down cooking surface can be flipped open upwards and used as a preparatory surface, where flipping it otherwise will turn it into a cooking surface. In addition, it boasts the ability to read RFID labels on food packaging so that you won't overcook or undercook your food.

The new front door design by Brazil based design group Nódesign is a beautiful design for a front door. The door is sleek and modern and comes with a remote control. Yup the door can be locked or unlocked at the click of a button similar to what a central locking does to a car. The door also comes with a digital door bell, number lighting i.e. the door displaying the house number. The door also comes with a battery back up of running one week without power supply. So a practical solution for today’s resource crunch times which is high tech yet simple to use.

A new and modern way of building a home is now starting to hit the United States. It has been noted by David Greene at well that American has been living in prefabs for years already. The prefab is noticeably cheaper than building a mini house. Its contemporary internal design is attractive and fashionable. These prefabs are ideal for rest houses and temporary homes like resorts and mini hotel. However, it can also be perfect as the main home for those who are on a tight budget, or those newly weds who are just started their families, but wanted a classy, fashionable, contemporary, and elegant home.

Wi-Fi definitely wasn’t built for the road, so if you plan on using a Wi-Fi network to make VoIP calls whilst driving, you probably won’t enjoy the experience too much. Microsoft and the University of Washington look like they’re trying to change that with a new technology called ViFi (Vehicle Wi-Fi), which aims to give users a steady signal whilst they drive. Wi-Fi doesn’t have the best of reputations when you’re moving, mainly due to the fact that it’ll have to switch to another base station when the distance to the current base station gets too far. The new design would allow for multiple base stations to be used simultaneously, with the station with the strongest strength designated the “anchor” system, and the others as “auxiliary” systems.

While Nintendo has had a long history of releasing their best selling devices in a plethora of colors (think Game Boy and DS Lite), the best selling console of this generation, the Nintendo Wii takes after Henry Ford's philosophy - we can have it in any color as long as it is white. While Nintendo has taken a small step in providing Wiimote straps of different colors, it would be nice to see the Big N do something more significant. Joe D! has decided to take matters into his own hands by coming up with wooden paneling on the Wiimote, Wii nunchuk and even the Wii Classic Controller. Nintendo suits, are you reading this?

This is a BMW concept car cadesigned by Transportation Design students Jai Ho Yoo and Lukas Vanek from the instituo Europeo di Design. They imagined the ZX-6 after being asked what the vehicles of 2015 would look like. Now call me crazy, but isn't 2015 just 7 years away? These guys are nuts. Besides, by 2015 we're not going to be driving cars anyways. Nope, the only thing we'll be driving is golf balls -- on Mars. ZOMG, Interplanetary Olympics!

New Swiss car, called “sQuba,” can drive on land and underwater. It was inspired by James Bond’s Lotus Esprit from “The Spy Who Loved Me” movie.


Rinspeed boss Frank M. Rinderknecht is known for his extraordinary automotive creations. The acknowledged James Bond enthusiast and Swiss automobile visionary kept revisiting this scene in his mind over and over: “For three decades I have tried to imagine how it might be possible to build a car that can fly under water. Now we have made this dream come true.”

Power is supplied by rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries. Rinderknecht: “The ‘sQuba’ is a zero-emission car as documented by the rotating license plate in the rear. It produces no exhaust emissions. The Swiss are among the world’s pioneers in the area of hydropower. The ‘sQuba’s’ filling station is the water reservoir.” It is no surprise that the vehicle features powerful yet energy-saving LED lighting technology.

OK, now this looks fun. The "Liber Toit" is a design for what's essentially a gigantic jungle gym for adults that spans across the roofs of multiple buildings in a city. You can get from building to building via wall climbs, slides, tubes and any number of other insanely-fun looking methods. It's a way to get places while also getting exercise! For the love of everything holy can we please make this happen somewhere? Preferably starting on top of my building? Please?

Japan wants to make robots to cover every segment of the market. Oboe is one designed for the elderly - sorta. In a creepy cybernetic way, Oboe contains all the knowledge, or will contain, everything your loved ones know before they pass. This way, they’re immortal since all of their experiences can be passed onto future generations.

Fast forward 1000 years from now and it won’t be surprising to find Earth populated with nothing but robots - conflicted because they remember being human
