How's super-strong invisible armor sound?

Posted by EscapeDigitalMedia

Graphene is an extremely common material that scientists are continually discovering new properties of. It's somewhat of a wonder material, apparently! A few years ago it was discovered that due to its electrical properties, one-micron sheets of it are ideal for the inner workings of tiny electronic devices. Now? Well, lets just say it's making the idea of ultra-thin, ultra-strong, invisible body armor seem a bit more realistic.

That's because it has a breaking strength of 55 newtons per meter, meaning a sheet of it the thickness of plastic wrap could support up to over 4,400lbs before breaking. Yeah, that's a lot of weight. And since it's transparent, it would make for some pretty strong see-through body armor. Pretty awesome stuff.
