Lenovo Pocket Yoga

Posted by EscapeDigitalMedia

Woo.. what do we have here? A new model from Sony? A follow-up to the VAIO P already? Um NO.

This little device is in fact from the folks at Lenovo and is currently known as the “Lenovo Pocket Yoga” (Boy I hope they change the name!) Little is known about the device – other than it appears to have a touch-enabled display. Hopefully the “Yoga” (I really want to call it “Yoda”) won’t be priced into the stratosphere like the Lifestyle VAIO P.

Here are some tidbits from the posting for your edification:

  • Called the “Pocket Yoga” because it was an extension of their other folding concept design which was inspired by the practice of yoga. The design came from one of their New Zealand –based designers
  • Shaped liked a large wallet – the system could be placed in your pocket
  • Surfaced is covered with wallet leather which is designed to be soft and comfortable
  • 360 degree soft hinge design. Supports three modes – which each mode lockable.
  • One mode was to use it in “normal angle” similar to how you might use a laptop
  • Second mode was to open it “360 degrees” – folding the top cover back on itself thereby converting the system into a tablet PC
  • Full function keyboard
  • Elegant belt which wrapped the system AND can be used as a mouse

Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 All in one PC

Posted by EscapeDigitalMedia

Lenovo has released details of their new all in one desktop PC, the Lenovo IdeaCentre A600, and from the photos it looks stunning.

Memory comes in the form of 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and up to 1TB of HDD storage, there is also the option to add ATI Radeon graphics cards, there are no details on which models are available with the Lenovo IdeaCentre A600.

There is also an optional remote which can be used for Media Centre or as game controller, or as an air mouse and a VoIP handset for Skype and other VoIP calls.

The Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 is scheduled to go on sale in March, with a starting price of $999, which seems pretty competitive considering the specs and the HD display.

Lenovo External Hard Drive Concept

Posted by EscapeDigitalMedia

Lenovo doesn't just make computers, as in their free time, engineers will come up with concepts such as this external hard drive. It boasts finger-touch access and an external display, where the drive's surface also doubles up as some sort of fingerprint reader. The display will show you just how much more space is left available, and with biometric security, you won't need to remember more passwords, but that would also mean being more careful when it comes to using that electric saw the next time around.

Thinkpad W700 with built in Wacom Tablet

Posted by EscapeDigitalMedia

Lenovo’s ThinkPad W700 is a 17-inch monster that’s the first notebook ever with a built-in Wacom digitizer (small may it be). Designed for professional use in industries such as graphic design, photography and CAD, the digital tablet lets you manipulate images in programs like Photoshop without any extra gear.

In addition, the 8-lb notebook features a professional grade, WUXGA screen with 400 nit brightness and an auto color-calibration sensor that lets you adjust display settings on the fly.

The W700 has a 3.0 GHz Core 2 Extreme quad core processor, up to 8GB DDR3 RAM, 1GB NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M graphics and dual HDD Bays configurable in RAID 0 or RAID 1 (SSDs are an option). Display outputs include Dual-Link DVI, VGA and Display Port (no HDMI, sorry). The computer also has a full number pad, 7-in-1 card reader, five USB Ports, and the option for a BD-RE Drive and Compact Flash reader.

The Lenovo W700 will be available in September, starting at around $3000. However Custom RAM and HDD configurations will make the price much higher

Lenovo’s new SL, R, T and W series ThinkPads

Posted by EscapeDigitalMedia

Lenovo is throwing new models of laptops at us like there is no tomorrow, like there is a new chipset and they want to be the first ones to overcrowd the market with new stuff. It’s their new and improved line of ThinkPads.

At the starting line we have first the SL series intended to be a small business line. The price ranges from $699 to $1199, they have an optional HDMI port, Blu-ray and 3G add-on from AT&T, Ericsson and WiMax for around $30. The SL series will come in 3 models: SL300 (13-inch), SL400 (14-inch) and SL500 (15-inch).

Second at the starting line, as a new entry is the W series (split from the T series). They try to steal our eyes with Switchable Graphics, which lets you switch from discreet to integrated graphics without rebooting the computer, along with Display Port.

There’s also the R series that represents the budget series.

All of these models have one thing in common, they all run on Centrino 2 schemes. As for the pricing, the SL400 and SL500 (already in stores) starts at $799, while the others will hit the shops in August and will go from $899 and may reach $1999 for the W500.

Lenovo IdeaPad hands-on

Posted by EscapeDigitalMedia

We got to mess around with Lenovo's new Idea Pad lineup tonight -- those new Think Pads were mysteriously absent, however -- and while we'd say Lenovo is playing it pretty safe at the moment, we still like what we see. The hinge design that first emerged in the U110 is now present in the whole line, and while the ThinkPad heritage has been hidden under mounds of glossy plastic, it's still fairly evident in the build quality of the laptops, and particularly in those well-loved keyboards. The new Y-series laptops are rather serious contenders in their respective categories, with the 15-inch Y530 matching up nicely to any mid-tier 15-incher from the Likes of Sony, HP or Dell, while the 17-inch Y730 offers an easily hot-swappable second drive bay, a switch for graphics card overclocking, a performance-oriented secondary display and function buttons, and secondary arrow keys for rocking that dastardly "The World's Hardest Game" -- though most gamers will be sticking with AWSD for the other relevant FPS niceties those keys offer. We'd say our biggest disappointment is the U330, which loses the U110's distinctive (and comfy) glossy-flush keyboard, and whose inclusion of a disc drive leaves it with none of the U110's strikingly small stature. Sure, 13.3-inches and switchable graphics are nice, but it really hardly stands out from the Y-series IdeaPads, which is no good considering the premium prices Lenovo expects for its U-series laptops.
